I have about the same viewing distance in my bedroom and I have a 58" TV. Viewing distance is great not to big at all.

I have a 55 inch LG OLED and sit 8 -10 feet away. My living room is quite small and at that distance the picture is excellent and free of any imperfections that I can see. I went from a 46" screen to a 55" screen and, yes, it did seem a huge leap at first but you soon get used to it. I no longer give it a thought.

I have my C7 55" at the very foot of my bed on top of a chest of drawers. Perfect distance for that screen size imho. It's not too close and you won't have image degradation.

The whole point of 4K was to increase the detail. If you sit too far away, you won't get any benefit. That said, I don't agree with a lot of the charts I have seen about screen size, viewing distance and resolution. The distance I sit from my TV means that I shouldn't bother with 4K and 1080 would be ample, but this is definitely not the case. Good quality 4K material is noticeable more detailed!

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'm still a bit undecided! I guess I won't know until I have it all set up - presumably there's a cooling off period where I can return it if I'm not happy?
Depends. Did you order it online/over the phone for delivery? If so, yes, there is a cooling off period. If bought in store, then it's whatever the store will do. RS charge a restocking fee for anything bought in store and returned but not for anything bought from the website or telesales.
